Old Game Editors
-Preserving old video game editor files since 2011-
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Welcome to Old Game Editors, a site dedicated to creating an archive of various editors that where released for FPS games of old, such as Doom, Marathon, Duke Nukem, etc. Over time various other old time game editors may be added to this site, but as of the moment its just for those. On top of having downloads for various editors, I am to have the various versions of the editors that have been released over time. Some may ask why one would want, for example, version one of an editor over version 2? Well in most cases one won't.
The objective of this is for historical purposes mostly. As the years go by, more and more files drop off into obscurity, and those ancient ftp sites of old are becoming less and less, meaning more and more files are being lost. No doubt some of these files will be saved on various peoples hard drives, but there is no guarentee that those files would ever be uploaded somewhere.
Thats why I created this site (even if its a free service site, i'm a cheap bastard what can I say ;) ), to preserve these files. While very few people will actually care about this in my mind, this may be of help/use to just a few people at least, and give some fans of the future the option of going back and time and see how editing may have been done back in the day etc, etc.
While I know I will not be able to find every version of every editor out there, others may have got them back when they where released and still have them laying around somewhere. If you do happen to have a version of an editor not listed here or listed as unavailable, please contact me so that I may at it to the list of that particular editor.
Alternatively you may be wondering as to the design of the site, as to why its not themed towards the particular game, etc etc. The purpose of the site is content, not visuals. I have no plans to "pretty up" the site, but may chose a different them if its considered to be terrible by enough people, but otherwise the sites theme will stay the same. Now if you have suggestions about other segments of the site, such as better wording, pages having a better format, better navigation etc etc, then I will listen to those requests.
Other sections may be added over time. I hope this site comes off as useful to some.
